More Work Done

So I spent quite a bit of time this evening working on the new template for this site...
It's coming along nicely -- not quite 100% happy with the colors yet. But I'm liking how things are done in style sheets...

Give it a look

In other news, a BIG HUGE thanks to Missy! She got me a Nightmare Before Christmas Lava Lamp. It's freakin' AWESOME!!!!!!

New Template in the works

So I got bored with this design -- plus it seems to take a while to load the javascript on the side.
AND I wanted to try out advanced stylesheet editing...

So this is what I have so far. No idea if it works in IE and the colors will deffinately change -- I need to find a good base color and then go from there...
Test Page

Let me know what you think!

4.3 Earthquake Anyone?

So I just finished reloading Missy's computer...
We installed a new motherboard, new cpu, new memory in it and reformatted the HD.

I'm sitting down to do the same on my laptop (it needed it) when *bam* I hear something upstairs. I'm thinking -- those goddamn cats, they knocked shit over in my office again.

Only it doesn't stop... it keeps going. Thats when I notice that the fish bowl water is moving back and forth. Oh yay. It's an earthquake. I jump up and head to the bathroom dorway like any good california kid would. As I'm on my way I tell missy to follow me and get in the doorway. It's the sturdiest spot downstairs to be.

It was over almost by the time we got there. Nothing terribly exciting happened. Except for some jumbled nerves and our poor kitten/princess -- who was (and still is) quite jumpy. I don't think Squeeek or zOrg got up at all. Ah well...

So, thanks to the power of the Internet, within 20 minutes, we were able to find out all about it... here's the links:
Most recent earthquakes
The 4.3
The location (thanks to Mapquest)

There are days that I hate technology and being as connected as I am can feel like a burden. Then there are days like today where I can, within a very short time, find out exactly what I wanted to know when I want to know it. The two balance each other out quite nicely.

Oh yah -- and I did feel one of the aftershocks (of the two). Missy thought I was crazy but sure enough, after looking at the usps website they were there!

Yah, Chris -- we're all okay up here. I only wish it had lasted longer -- then it would've been *really* exciting!

I grew up here...

This article was forwarded to me by a co-worker. I grew up in this valley -- spending the largest amount of time there as compared to anywhere else I've lived. Anywase, this actually made me laugh so thanks for the link, Cara!

Good Night Climbing

After about 2 or 3 weeks of just mediocre climbing I feel like I had a great night climbing today...

Got to the gym a little late -- I helped Missy put together a new shelving system for her tshirts -- and hopped on some easier climbs that Dan recommended. Well I warmed up on a traverse first.

So I climbed. And I climbed. I got on lots of climbs and finished most of them. Kevin had me going up stuff that I didn't think I would normally complete -- and finishing them. Megan worked a couple problems with me and Kevin and of course Kevin was off doing his own crazy thing. He's just way full of energy.

Anywase, it was a good night of climbing and a big thanks to all who helped make it so fun!

Well -- I made it

I was going to just do the 100k but I made the mistake of following the people in front of me. I missed the turn off to the 100k route and ended up doing the 100 mile route. By the time I realized it, it was too late.

Ah well.
So I'm pretty beat.
It was raining for about the first 20 miles. Well drizzling really. It was quite wet and cold. In fact I never really warmed up until the last 20 miles or so.

We then hopped over to Vertex for the climbing comp. Missy took photos and I shot some video. I'll post 'em once I get 'em off the camera (prob. not tonight)...

It's Raining It's Poring -- I should be snoring!

So I'm off to ride.
I don't know how far I will go yet. It's just letting up on the rain right now. And it looks like there isn't any rain for a while. But it sure was poring when I woke up.

Santa Rosa Century -- here I come!

Some People...

I wish I was like certain people. We call them idols. I was bored today and took a quick run by Wendy Carlos' website (http://www.wendycarlos.com). Her call to fame? Switched on Bach. The first recording using the Moog Synthesizer. Ever since I heard the first notes of the album (played on an LP in grade school) I was hooked. So I currently own all her albums in their fancy HI-D CD releases (and most in their original CD releases as well). In her news page she mentioned working on a new studio layout for her home studio.

She had certain requirements. She needed easy access to four keyboards and wanted a pedal board (like those you find on Pipe Organs). Plus she needed to have a computer (or two) close by. Since nobody made any sort of rack like she was looking for, she decided to design her own.

The resulting unit, which she named Wurlitzer II, is WAY impressive. I've only made it through the first page of how she did it. The first page being why, influences, and how she made the pedal board and I'm way impressed. In fact whenever she writes up anything on her website I'm always way impressed. It's always written very techincally but I still manage to follow it. Like her article on how to bake tapes of recordings from the early 70's (since dampness makes them stick together after many moons).

So check out the site above -- and check out her new layout -- it's truly a dream setup.
