Every IT person's favorite pasttime.
Jacques and I traveled to Utah this week to train a bunch of people on how to be trainers for Goalview. To my surprise, I'm actually having a good time. I was worried that my patience would wear thin with the older-women-users (since they tend to be the ones who are afraid of new technology), but grace abounds..
Utah is ugly. Dry. Salt Lake?? A big mud pit.
AAAAHHHHH!!!! A double entendre....
We saw The Matrix: Reloaded last night.
That was a cool movie. The story, as Misha put it, lacked the storytelling *style* of the original, but what it lacked in story, it made up in eye candy...naturally. The scenes were highly stylized, the filming was beautiful, though maybe a little too much use of bullet-time. But whatever...It was cool.
I started the process of reloading my computer Friday. That was a bear. I moved everything to a nice new case that had enough drive bays (4 hdd). But then I had to get a new power supply that would support all the juice I need it to. That works nicely. So after moving everything, I start reloading. Went smoothly, no major hiccups. I tried some audio drivers that ended up working a lot better than the normal ones from Creative Labs. That saved a lot of time. Then I realized that my 120gb hdd didnt want to register with Windows...WHAAA?!?!?! And since its on the RAID controller card, booting into DOS to format it was not possible. DOS wouldnt see it. WEEE!!!
So I stuck it into another machine as a normal drive, formatted it, tweaked the jumpers, stuck it back in its home, reformatted it for good measure, and now I'm done.
And there was much rejoicing. yaaay..
So, Dani and I went to see the X2 movie last week. The theatre we went to was kind enough to show us 20 minutes of commercials BEFORE the film. Aside from the fact that this action totally ruined the entire movie-going experience for me, there was a commercial that baffled me. It piggy-backed on the whole Matrix-propaganda-hype theme and said I should drink Powerade because the Matrix needs fuel.
Well, thats fine, but I realized today, while reading penny-arcade, why this bugged me so much. Exhibit A.
Anyhow...
Well, we've been back for a week or so now, and I still haven't recovered. My brain just needs rest. Pics here.
| Fri 4/18 | Left Santa Rosa for Azusa Pacific University. Got there. Filled up on Gas before we left, and refilled once before the grapevine. Still had half a tank before filling up. That means I could have driven from Santa Rosa to San Diego on a single tank of gas. YAAAAY CLIFFORD! w00p! |
| Sat 4/19 | Left Azusa for the border. No problems at the border. Incredibly uneventful except for finally reaching our destination and setting up camp. |
| Sun 4/20 | EASTER! Headed over to the church to get started working. Did some music, a skit, and played much baseball. LOTS of fun. Heaps and loads even. The church made us lunch. Carne Asada, Rice, beans, hot stuff, good stuff...aaaaahhh... a feast, and I had seconds. Some of the students were a little wary of the food, but after they tasted it... |
| Mon 4/21 | Got up early, breakfast at a taco stand. Chorizo, Papas, Huevos, and MUCHO MUCHO SALSA!!! WOOP. Back over to the church for some VBS. Music, fun, games, crafts, all in all a great day. Not many kids though. |
| Tue 4/22 | God was moving. Lots of Kids showed up. Lots of fun and good times were had. Speaker at the camp was excellent. Music there was excellent. Lots of fun. The students really started bonding together. |
| Wed 4/23 | SHOWERS!!!! Did the normal daily VBS stuff, then headed into town for some showers (ahhhhhh) and some shopping. Kind of a restful day. |
| Thu 4/24 | Once again feeling funky. That shower didnt last long. The pits are stank. Nathan was stank. VBS was really good. Pat started an adult Bible study on Wednesday, continued today. Looks like its going well, though Pat says its a really hard ministry. I believe it too. I can't imagine.. |
| Fri 4/25 | Left. Back to Azusa. But not before the 3 punk pain-in-the-neck nationals decided it was time to quit screwing around and get their acts together with God. YEAH! OH YEAH. Made it back to Azusa with only a minor hiccup. I got us lost. In Azusa. 5 blocks from where we were supposed to be. How embarrassing. Ah well. Dani's birthday too. I took her to the Old Spaghetti Factory with a bunch of the students. Lots of fun. Misha came and hung out. I think I fell asleep early though. |
| Sat 4/26 | Started driving home. In Clifford, we got 40+ big-rigs to honk at us. Much fun was had. |
